Ranking all 31 NHL reverse retro jerseys

The NHL finally decided to do something exciting when they introduced the 'Adidas reverse retro' jerseys. Some of these new jerseys are a thing of beauty, while some would've been better off staying in factory. Here are all 31 jerseys ranked.

(NHL/Twitter)

1. Colorado Avalanche - Nordiques

(NHL/Twitter)

Any Nordiques jersey is a true masterpiece and this Avs x Nordiques jersey doesn't disappoint. I am a fan of using the Quebec logo with the Colorado colours. This is my favourite jersey that was released.

2. Florida Panthers - Leaping cat in blue

(NHL/Twitter)

I have waited so long for the Panthers to release a blue jersey. They stopped using their old blues back in 2011 and their new logo isn't my favourite. I'd like to thank Adidas and the hockey gods for not only giving Panthers fans a blue jersey, but also bringing back the leaping cat, which is such a beautiful logo.

3. Carolina Hurricanes - Whalers

(NHL/Twitter)

Compared to the average jerseys the Hurricanes have now, this Whalers jersey is top notch. The silver/grey base goes really well with the blue green and white stripes on the jersey. The Whalers logo is really clean and the shoulder patch has old Hartford mascot, Pucky the Whale on it.

4. Tampa Bay Lightning - Old is good

(NHL/Twitter)

This might seem a bit high but the colour combination with the classic Lightning logo works. I love the state of Florida shoulder patch and the OG logo is way better than their current one. All they need is a black version of this and Tampa could have some of the best jerseys in the NHL.

5. Montreal Canadiens - Finally a third

(NHL/Twitter)

Montreal hasn't had a predominantly blue jersey since their inaugural season in 1909-1910. I would have loved to see that light blue jersey with the "C" on it but this will do. Montreal rarely ever changed up their jerseys after the 1940's, so Habs fans should be happy to see a blue jersey in their lineup. Montreal's colours work and this jersey is great.

6. Anaheim Ducks - Wild Wing

(NHL/Twitter)

I was hoping we would see the Mighty Ducks logo back but Wild Wing isn't a bad second choice. This jersey throws it back to the 90's as does the colour way. Anaheim's current jerseys are terrible, they need to go back to these colours now.

7. Calgary Flames - Blasty

(NHL/Twitter)

Black hockey jerseys look great and Calgary's yellow/red accents make this jersey pop. Blasty makes this jersey 10 times better than the main Flames logo would and that's why I have this jersey ranked so high.

8. Los Angeles Kings - Lake Show

(NHL/Twitter)

Not only is this jersey purple and gold, it also has the same logo the Kings wore when Gretzky played for the team. These colours are beautiful and it screams LA. The Lakers just won a championship in these same colours and previous purple Kings jerseys were always clean.

9. Washington Capitals - Screaming Eagle

(NHL/Twitter)

I have never liked the current Capitals jerseys, but I adored the blue and white screaming eagle set. This isn't the blue that I was hoping for but this logo is perfect and the red with dark blue works. Washington needs to drop a blue or black version of this to make Ovechkin fans happy.

10. New Jersey Devils - Green is clean

(NHL/Twitter)

Green is often a tough sell, but personally I think it works with the Devils jersey. Green and red compliment each other and I can't wait to see Nico Hirschier wear this with a "C" (if he becomes the captain.)

11. Buffalo Sabres - The swords

(NHL/Twitter)

Buffalo doesn't do a lot of things right and they almost made a perfect jersey. I say almost because the Sabres' fans wanted this exact jersey in black and red. Despite keeping their current colour scheme, this jersey has a great logo and the "BUFFALO" lettering at the bottom is a nice touch.

12. New York Rangers - Lady Liberty

(NHL/Twitter)

These kind of look like New England Patriots jersey with the lack of colour around the jersey. I think it could have used more striping but the lady liberty logo is amazing and I am happy to see it back.

13. Arizona Coyotes - Purple in the dessert

(NHL/Twitter)

The Logo is nice, the Arizona desert skyline is an interesting but cool concept and purple is a very hit or miss colour. Luckily for Arizona, they hit on this jersey.

14. Chicago Blackhawks - Black is solid

(NHL/Twitter)

Chicago has always had one of the best jersey/logo combinations in the league. I am a fan of black jerseys and I don't see anything wrong with these.

15. Dallas Stars - The star is here

(NHL/Twitter)

Dallas' old logo was sweet. Pair that with the star design on the jersey and you get this. The colour was an interesting choice but it is different from their current jersey colours so I like it.

16. Minnesota Wild - North Stars

(NHL/Twitter)

The North Stars had one of the coolest jersey colours when the were in the league. They moved to Dallas and become the Stars. Here we have Minnesota's newer franchise throwing it back to the state's original team. At first look it is kind of loud but I think it will grow on me. The logo is interesting but once I see it on ice I think I will be happy with the result.

17. San Jose Sharks - Classic Logo

(NHL/Twitter)

This is a cool jersey. I like the shark with the broken hockey stick logo and the colours look nice. We have another grey based jersey here and I don't know how I feel about it yet. This has the potential to move up in the rankings once I see the full uniform.

18. Toronto Maple Leafs - Big Logo

(NHL/Twitter)

I like everything about this jersey except for the logo. I don't think I like how big it is or the lettering in the middle. If there was a different leaf logo I think the initial reaction for me would have been better. The silver accents are nice and the shoulder patches are cool.

19. Columbus Blue Jackets - Red with classic logo

(NHL/Twitter)

I have always been a fan of this logo. The colours on the jersey are nice but they look to much like the alternate Capitals jerseys. I would have liked to see a baby blue with the cannon logo for this jersey.

20. Edmonton Oilers - It's white

(NHL/Twitter)

These are better than their current aways in my opinion, but could they have done more with these? It's nothing special but it automatically becomes the best Oilers jersey right now.

21. Winnipeg Jets - I mean it's ok

(NHL/Twitter)

Winnipeg using their classic logo is the right call on this. But why is it grey? If Winnipeg's finest, Gavin Axelrod disapproves of this jersey, so will I.

22. Nashville Predators - Make it the home

(NHL/Twitter)

There is actually nothing wrong with this jersey. The only reason why it is ranked so low is because they are already using a yellow jersey. This design should be the current homes as the silver accents takes away your eyes from the aggressive yellow. Make a blue of this and roll with them as the thirds.

23. Vancouver Canucks - Gradient has returned

(NHL/Twitter)

Vancouver's gradient jersey has always been a topic of discussion. I personally like the colours and the gradient isn't the worst thing in the world. Vancouver already has plenty of nice jerseys so this jersey didn't really need to hit it out of the park.

24. Boston Bruins - Bring back Pooh

(NHL/Twitter)

Many people hate yellow, but I for one am a fan of it. I think if this jersey had the Pooh bear instead of the "B" logo it would have been a lot better.

25. Ottawa Senators - Too much red

(NHL/Twitter)

Ottawa did the right thing by going back to their "2D" logo. I don't hate these jerseys, I just think there is way too much red and not enough of anything else.

26. Pittsburgh Penguins - Simplicity is key

(NHL/Twitter)

Just because I have this ranked at 26 doesn't mean that it is a bad jersey. The colour way is nice, I just would have loved to see one of the many different Penguin logos that have appeared over the last fifty years.

27. Philadelphia Flyers - Gritty is home

(NHL/Twitter)

Another jersey from a Pennsylvania team that is by no means terrible, it's just nothing to go crazy over. Philly already has their orange jerseys and this just adds some black and white accents on the sleeves. Put Gritty's face on the front and you're cracking my top five.

28. Vegas Golden Knights - Circa 2017

(NHL/Twitter)

The Knights haven't even been in the league for five years so it is kind of hard for them to have an authentic reverse retro jersey. Right now I don't know how I feel about the red, grey, gold and black combo they are running with. But hey, when in Vegas.

29. St. Louis Blues - St. Louis Reds

(NHL/Twitter)

They really missed the opportunity to reverse the light blue and yellow jerseys but St. Louis decided to become the reds. It might look good on the ice, or it will look like hot garbage. We will wait and see.

30. New York Islanders - Nothing new about it

(NHL/Twitter)

Your fans wanted the fisherman logo, that's all you had to do. It looks like the Islanders turned down the darkness on their current home jerseys and sent this in to the Adidas reps. Come on, these jerseys were not great 10 years ago, what makes you think people will like them now.

31. Detroit Red Wings - Practice jerseys

(NHL/Twitter)

The only thing sadder than the Detroit Red Wings are these jerseys. I am genuinely convinced the graphics team took a white practice jersey and added three silver stripes to it. I am pretty confident that our graphics head Andrew Yang could do a better job than this.
