Today Club de futbul Real Madrid released an official statement announcing the decision Zinedine Zidane has made which is to end step down as head coach of the Spanish giants.

I can't help but have a deja vu feeling, cause as most Madrid fans remember it was only three three years ago that Zidane first departed from the team as coach due to personal reasons, it was may 31 2018, he returned 10 months later yet now again in the month of May Zidane ends his spell as a head coach once again.

While I am sure most fans would have hoped Zidane to stay as our head coach, we must respect his decision and thank him for everything he achieved Real’s statement says it best as they thank the frenchmen it writes , “express our gratitude for his professionalism, dedication and passion over the years and what he means to Real Madrid…” Zidane is one of Real Madrid’s great icons and his legacy extends beyond what he has achieved as a coach and player at our club”.

It is true that Zidane left the team as a player as a legend, yet even now he leaves Real Madrid as a head coach with a legacy like no other, one can surely say that there will only be one Zizou.

His resume as Real Madrid’s head coach surely provides evidence of the legacy that he leaves behind him that he truly is one of the most decorated Real Madrid coaches in Real Madrid history.

This 2020-21 season certainly does not reflect the amazing work and successes zidane has managed with the spanish side, as they have finished second in LaLiga behind Atletico Madrid by two points, and had a early exit in the copa del rey to a third division team Alcoyano as well as then the champions league semi-final loss to Chelsea, the los blancos leave this football season without a trophy. Yet Zidane still leaves the team with 11 trophies.

The three iconic trophies are the historic three back to back to back champions league.

Following this legacy are two Club World Cups, two UEFA Super Cups, two Spanish super cups and two La Liga titles.

So with a legacy like this it is only fair that he seen of with the best thank you messages, which is what most if not all Real Madrid players did as they took onto their social media to express their messages to their coach, some which were Uruguayan Federico Valverde who took to twitter and instagram, he wrote “having you as a coach was undoubtedly one of the greatest honors. Thanks for the trust, the advice and above all for the respect. Not only in sports, but personally, I appreciate you very much and I will always be grateful”. Another player who took to both social media platforms is Luka Modric who recently just signed a one-year contract extension with the team. He sends his thanks to the Frenchman and writes “You are top. Best of luck”.

These two messages are just two of the players messages, yet the messages shine through with all the love and gratitude to Zidane, his passion and dedication has shown through as a manager and as real said “he has a place in the hearts of the Real Madrid fans and that he will always have a home at Real Madrid. So with the legacy he leaves behind rained with passion he will always be remembered and missed and have a place in the Madridstas hearts and in Real Madrid. So as Madridsta, it pains me to write this and I don't think no words can express all the feelings of gratitude I have for Zidane. I will always be grateful for everything and we will always remember what you did for this white shirt and for the badge.

Merci beaucoup Zizou!
