Diffusing Dynamite Sept. 30

The Sept. 30 episode of All Elite Wrestling Dynamite was highlighted by a pair of great championship matches

(AEW)

The final All Elite Wrestling (AEW) Dynamite of September was an action-packed one.

It featured a card which saw AEW World Champion Jon Moxley defend his title and AEW Tag Team Champions FTR defend their belts as well. Elsewhere on the card, Chris Jericho defeated Isiah Kassidy, Britt Baker defeated Red Velvet and Orange Cassidy beat Dark Order’s 10.

As always Gavin Axelrod and Joseph Casciaro have got you covered when it comes to all things AEW. You won’t want to miss another exciting edition of Diffusing Dynamite.

Allin and Starks finally get their match

(AEW)

Darby Allin and Ricky Starks opened the show with a fantastic match.

Allin emerged victorious, but it feels as though this feud won’t end here. One of the best spots in the match saw Starks spear Allin out of mid-air.

The wealth of talent AEW has is ridiculous. Both of these two wrestlers are probably going to be champions at some point in the promotion’s near future.

This match did exactly what it needed to do, get the show off to a hot start.

Dog collar match set for next week’s Dynamite

(AEW)

Former TNT Champion Cody cut a promo addressing his return to AEW on last week’s episode. He talked about a number of things, but it seemed as though his sub-five-minute loss to Mr. Brodie Lee was still on his mind.

Before walking up the ramp, Cody said as an AEW EVP he would not allow the dog collar match to happen. Cody ended up swerving, almost no one as he turned around and delivered a fiery address confirming he would accept the match and it’d be next week.

A massive brawl ensued between Cody and Mr. Brodie. Nyla Rose also decided to beat someone up and Brandi Rhodes took out all of Dark Order with a top rope move.

The brawl itself was overbooked, but it got the point across that these men will need to literally be chained up in order to settle the score.

FTR and SoCal Uncensored brush AEW with greatness

(AEW)

The original stipulation for this was FTR’s 20-minute “Brush With Greatness” challenge, where even if the match went to a draw, it would count as a win on the AEW Tag Team Champions' records.

However, this was more like both teams brushing AEW with greatness.

This was probably FTR’s best match in the promotion to date and it sets a high standard for their challengers going forward. The match was also Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky’s first tag team match together in four months, they didn’t disappoint.

SCU took FTR to their limits and nearly became the first two-time AEW Tag Team Champions, but Tully Blanchard helped his team steal a victory.

If you have time, you’ve got to go back and watch this match.

Tournament time!

(AEW)

After the Tag Team Championship match, the AEW commentary team made a surprise announcement.

An eight-man tournament is coming and the winner will receive a shot at the AEW World Champion. The first three entries are Jungle Boy, Rey Fenix and Kenny Omega, who finally makes his return to singles action.

During the segment, ‘Hagman’ Adam Page was at the commentary table and when he heard about Omega’s involvement he was distraught. Page quickly dashed away from the commentary team, which felt like he just found out his ex just found a new partner.

The popular internet theory is Page will enter the tournament and the final match will be himself vs Kenny Omega in the tournament finals Nov. 7 at the Full Gear pay-per-view.

Jon Moxley defends the AEW World Championship

(AEW)

Following his successful title defense against Eddie Kingston last week on Dynamite, Moxley found himself defending the belt once again. His opponent was chosen by Kingston.

Rumours swirled all day about who Moxley’s opponent would be and in a surprise turn of events, Kingston chose Butcher, from his new stable. Nonetheless, the two put on a really solid match in which Butcher did a lot of damage to Moxley’s knee.

The champion would successfully defend his title, but if one thing is clear Kingston’s group is wearing down Moxley. Next up for Jon Moxley is a date with Lance Archer for the title on the AEW one year anniversary show Oct. 14.

Next week: Cody and Mr. Brodie do battle, Will Hobbs takes on Brian Cage for the FTW title and more!
