Diffusing Dynamite Sept. 23

(AEW)

The Sept. 23 edition of AEW Dynamite was highlighted by Jon Moxley defending his AEW Championship against Eddie Kingston

All Elite Wrestling’s (AEW) Wednesday edition of Dynamite seemed to be quite the stacked card, practically putting out a pay-per-view quality show.

The card was highlighted by two championship matches, first, we would see Mr. Brodie Lee defend the TNT Championship against Orange Cassidy. Later on, Jon Moxley would be defending his AEW Championship against the self-proclaimed number-one contender, Eddie Kingston.

The Moxley match was announced on the heels of Lance Archer testing positive for COVID-19, causing the previously announced six-man tag to be cancelled.

Elsewhere on the card was Hikaru Shida and Thunder Rosa vs Ivelisse and Diamante, we would hear from Matt Hardy and Private Party, and Chris Jericho would be live. Also, ‘The Best Man’ Miro would be making his in-ring debut in a tag-team match alongside Kip Sabian against Joey Janela and Sonny Kiss.

As always Joseph Casciaro and Gavin Axelrod have covered this show so stay tuned to hear about how this amazing card came to life.

MIRO DAY IS UPON US

(AEW)

In ‘The Best Man’ Miro’s AEW in-ring debut he teamed up with ‘Superbad’ Kip Sabian to take on Joey Janela and Sonny Kiss. Miro looked like he hasn’t missed a step and he looks like to be in the best shape of his career.

He overpowered his opponents and did not let them get much damage to him, he eventually landed a Matchka kick on Kiss and then locked in Game Over to get the win for his team.

Miro has started his AEW career on a very strong note, and I can only imagine what the future holds for ‘The Best Man.” Happy Miro Day!

‘Hangman’ Page is shining

(AEW)

For the second week in a row ‘Hangman’ Adam Page was competing in singles action, this week against Evil Uno of Dark Order. This match was originally supposed to be Page and Kenny Omega against Stu Grayson and Evil Uno, but Omega refused to be in a tag match.

Page really shined in this match and showed once again he can really hold his own as a singles competitor. For this match, Omega was on commentary and he had some interesting points in the match.

Firstly, when the Dark Order began to surround Page during the match, Omega did not bother standing up. The next thing that caught my ears was after Page was able to pick up the victory, Omega said he was proud of him.

Omega then quickly fled to the back before any interaction with Page, and before he left he said he would return to singles-action when it best benefits his rankings. I love the slow burn between Page and Omega, and I expect one of these two men to be the World Champion contender at the next AEW pay-per-view, Full Gear.

The Young Bucks are going through it

(AEW)

The Young Bucks’ new attitude continued to come through on this week's Dynamite. After attacking an announcer and referee in the last two weeks, this week they were out to hurt Tony Schiavone

Tony was interviewing Matt Jackson, and at first, he seemed apologetic about their actions and said it was because they are hurting due to recent events. He described those events as losing life-long friends and losing title-shots.

However, after Tony brought up the rivals of The Bucks, FTR, Matt’s mood instantly changed. He accused Tony of trying to make him upset and then smashed the cell phone of Tony.

This was such a dirty heel thing to do, The Young Bucks’ new attitude is horrible and they really are heels.

A NEW LOOK CODY HAS RETURNED

(AEW)

After Mr. Brodie Lee defeated Orange Cassidy to retain his TNT Championship in a very entertaining matchup, the lights would go out in Daily’s Place. With the lights out smoke and red lights would fill the entranceway, and you could see a silhouette at the top of the ramp.

Out of nowhere, the Nightmare Family logo appeared on the titantron and Cody’s music hit, and a new look Cody with black hair would enter the arena. Cody has not been seen since Lee and Dark Order destroyed him after Lee defeated him for the title.

Cody looked like he was a man on a mission and laid out the Dark Order, and he had a look of pure anger in his eye. Cody was left with only 5 in the ring and he locked him in a viscous figure-four leg lock as the rest of the Dark Order fled to the back.

Cody is back and he wants to reclaim his TNT Championship. He also wants a piece of Mr. Brodie Lee.

After this attack, Lee gave a promo in the back to challenge Cody to a dog-collar match. He said he wanted to giver Cody nowhere to run and he has one week to answer this challenge. Will Cody accept Mr. Brodie Lee’s challenge next week?

Matt Hardy against Inner Circle, again?

(AEW)

A very questionable move by AEW here to include Matt Hardy in another feud with the Inner Circle, after the trainwreck with Sammy Guevara. Hardy accused Jericho of attacking him with his bat last week after he was found down holding his knee.

Jericho denied these accusations and announced the return of Sammy Guevara, and then things got heated between The Inner Circle and Matt Hardy & Private Party.

Both Marc Quen and Hardy wanted a piece of the Inner Circle, but it would end up being Isiah Kassidy to step up. He said he wants payback on Jericho for attacking him after their match last week, and he challenged Jericho one-on-one next week. Kassidy then went on to say he would make Jericho ‘Le Champion Bitch.’

20 Minute Brush with Greatness

(AEW)

The AEW Tag Team Champions, FTR, were in the ring with their manager Tully Blanchard to announce their new concept. They said since world champions are given 60-minute time limits, they would be announcing their new challenge a ‘20-minute brush with greatness.’

They said that if teams could not defeat them in 20-minutes, they consider that a check in the win column. This challenge will begin next week when FTR battles SoCal Uncensored.

FTR was then joined in the ring by Best Friends, and they said after their win last week they wanted a 20-minute shot at FTR. FTR seemed like they were accepting, but they then fled the ring and said to check back in a few weeks.

I definitely believe Best Friends have earned a Tag Team Title shot, and they have been the best babyface team in the company through the pandemic.

Thunder Rosa may already be the best women’s wrestler in AEW

(AEW)

In a very short time, Thunder Rosa has been in AEW, she has been such an amazing acquisition to the AEW women’s division. She has put on amazing matches and she gives off such badass vibes.

So, this week when she teamed up with AEW Women’s Champion Shida, to take on Ivelisse and Diamante, it was another great bout. Both Rosa and Shida shined and I feel the way this end is with a winner take all championship match.

I really hope we see Thunder Rosa as both the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) World Women’s Champion and the AEW Women’s Champion.

Moxley retains in a war

(AEW)

Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston put on an absolute war to close Dynamite, and this was one of the stiffest matches I’ve seen in a while. Both men were laying into each other, and Kingston got so much offence in.

Kingston can brutally strike and he left Moxley’s chest beet red after all those chops. After Kingston going at Moxley for a solid 10 minutes, Moxley was able to lock in a bulldog choke. With this hold he made Kingston pass out, and Moxley retained his AEW Championship. However, what happened after the match showed there is so much more to come.

Dynamite ends in mayhem

(AEW)

After Moxley got the win, Kingston’s stablemates, The Lucha Bros., would rush the ring and start beating on Moxley in a 3-on-1 attack. Will Hobbs then came to make the save, but the numbers game was still in favour of Kingston and The Lucha Bros.

The odds were finally evened when fan favourite, Darby Allin, came rushing to the ring. He was able to fight off the numbers, but just as he was gaining control he was hit with a devastating spear from Ricky Starks.

Kingston, Starks, and The Lucha Bros then laid in on these three men, and it showed the world that Kingston is nowhere near finished with Jon Moxley and the AEW Championship.

Next week: Cody responds to Mr. Brodie Lee’s challenge, Dr. Britt Baker returns to action, FTR vs SCU, Ricky Starks vs Darby Allin, and Jon Moxley will appear live.
