A surprise title change highlighted a stacked show

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) Dynamite made its return to Dallas Texas Wednesday, for Fyter Fest Night Two.
The show saw Jon Moxley defend the IWGP United States Championship against Lance Archer, Orange Cassidy take on The Blade and Britt Baker make her first defence of the AEW Women’s World Championship against ‘The Native Beast’ Nyla Rose.
Elsewhere on the card Orange Cassidy defeated The Blade, Chris Jericho beat Shawn Spears and a plethora of matches were announced for next week’s Fight For The Fallen Special.
Chavo Guererro also debuted as Andrade El Idolo’s special consultant and it looks like they’ll be feuding with Death Triangle.

After Chris Jericho’s victory over Shawn Spears MJF made a beeline to the ring. He said that although Jericho was victorious this week, next week he’d have something better.
MJF continued, saying he has recruited one of the most violent and sadistic men in all of wrestling. A man so dangerous he once robbed a bank without a mask, the legendary deathmatch wrestler Nick Gage.
Next week Jericho will resurrect The Painmaker moniker when he takes on Gage in a no disqualification match. He’ll certainly have his work cut out for him.
A date with destiny

The epic clash between Dark Order and The Elite will happen next week at Fight For The Fallen. If Dark Order wins, ‘Hangman’ Adam Page will get a shot at Kenny Omega’s AEW World Championship and members of his stable will also get Tag Team Title shots.
However, if The Elite wins neither Page nor his friends will get a shot at the gold, which is a major price to pay for a date with destiny. The stakes don’t get any bigger than this!
Wheeler Yuta and Darby Allin deliver

Wheeler Yuta is one of the fastest rising stars in wrestling today and because of a standout performance against Sammy Guevara last week, he earned a match against Darby Allin.
This contest was surprisingly technical and was a great clash between two young stars. It wouldn’t surprise anyone if Yuta became All Elite in the near future.
However, on this night it was Darby Allin who walked away with a victory.
Britt Baker’s legacy continues

Britt Baker retained her AEW Women’s World Championship in an excellent match with Nyla Rose. The challenger was tremendous in her role too.
This match was given a perfect length of time and the two were able to do some unique spots. The best one though was when Baker tried to pull the Eddie Guererro finish by making it look like she was attacked with the title belt, only for Rose to throw it back at her.
Rose was able to distract Baker and lure her in for the Beast Bomb, but it wasn’t enough to put the champion away. Baker would later hit two curb stomps and synch in the Lock Jaw for the win to cap off a great first defence.
The IWGP United States Championship changes hands

Lance Archer defeated Jon Moxley in shocking fashion to become the new IWGP United States Champion. Archer won the match by spiking Moxley through two tables covered with barbed wire.
However, it wasn’t as easy as it sounds for Archer to defeat his opponent. He needed to stab him in the head with a fork a few times and chokeslam him onto two chairs.
Prior to the match New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), the company the title belongs to, conducted a poll in which 60 per cent of people thought Moxley would retain. This was a great time for Archer to retain the belt with a win in his home state.
NJPW’s resident historian Chris Charlton said that this is the first time an NJPW title has changed hands outside of their own ring in nearly a decade. The last time this happened La Sombra (currently known as Andrade El Idolo) defeated Shinsuke Nakamura for the Intercontinental Title in May 2013.
Archer won’t have much time to celebrate though as he takes on the son of the legendary Haku and Bullet Club member Hikuleo next week at Fight For The Fallen. As for Jon Moxley, his future is unclear especially when it comes to NJPW’s special event in Los Angeles this August.
